The British Society of Cinematographers (BSC) recently honoured the outstanding contributions of the First Steps Cinematography mentee programme with their prestigious "Special Achievement Award." This initiative was established by the renowned cinematographer Fabian Wagner ASC BSC, in collaboration with the support of Aga Szeliga ACO and Mitch Payne. The primary objective of this program is to provide aspiring individuals with valuable hands-on experience in the world of cinematography by facilitating their placement on film sets. Through this immersive learning opportunity, mentees are given the chance to familiarize themselves with the intricate workings of the camera department, gaining practical insights and honing their skills under the guidance of industry professionals. The First Steps Cinematography programme not only equips participants with technical knowledge but also fosters creativity, collaboration, and a deep appreciation for all things 'Cinematography'. By recognising and supporting emerging talent in this manner, the BSC continues to uphold its commitment to nurturing the next generation of cinematographers and ensuring a vibrant future for the film industry.
